Whenever you first use a Pocket PC device, or cold boot an existing device, you always have to learn how to use the stylus, pop-up menus, etc. Finally, someone let me in on a secret to skip this chore. When you have seen these screens for at least the 500th time you are ready for a shortcut.
Once you are past the screen for aligning the stylus, you will be presented with a screen labeled stylus. There is a next button in the bottom right. Instead of clicking on the next button hold down the Pocket PC's action key and tap with the stylus in the upper left of the screen. Once the red dots complete their circle you will be sent directly to the Operating System's Today screen without learning how to tap and hold.
For those in the GMT-8 Pacific US timezone, you're done. The rest of us have to change the timezone if needed.
I've only tested this on an Intermec 700 so it may not work on every device out there, but I bet it does.
